Definitions
Same Side: Attacker grips defender's arm on same side as the gripping hand
Opposite Side: Attacker grips defender's arm on opposite side as the gripping hand
Normal Grip: Attacker grips defender's arm at wrist with thumb side of gripping hand upward
Inverted Grip: Attacker grips defender's arm at wrist with thumb side of gripping hand downward
Types of Wrist Grabs
SN: Same Side, Normal Grip
SI: Same Side, Inverted Grip
ON: Opposite Side, Normal Grip
OI: Opposite Side, Inverted Grip
Wrist Grab Releases

| 1 | SN | 1. Rotate grabbed forearm, wrist, and hand
inward with fingers rotating over attacker's wrist and grabbing the wrist.
2. Opposite hand grabs back of attacker's hand over the lower knuckles. 3. Perform 1 and 2 while bringing both of your hands together just in front of your upper chest as you step in front of the attacker. 4. While keeping the hand gripping the wrist stationary, push the grabbed hand inward toward attacker's elbow, while simultaneously rotating the hand toward the attacker causing pain in attacker's wrist. |
| 2 | SN | 1. Rotate hand of grabbed arm outward while
lifting it palm up to a position just in front of your upper chest.
2. Opposite hand grabs back of attacker's hand over the lower knuckles with thumb on lower knuckle of little finger. 3. Peel attacker's hand off and grab it with your released hand. 4. Both hands now should grip the attacker's hand, fingers around each side, little fingers resting on the wrist, and thumbs pressing on back of attacking hand's knuckles. 5. Push against attacking hand's knuckles putting pressure on attacker's wrist while twisting attacking hand outward causing pain in attacker's wrist. |
