Michael Deese is a 6th Degree Black Belt and a Master Instructor with the Taekwondo America national organization and is a member of the Taekwondo America Board of Directors. Mr. Deese is an enthusiastic instructor who loves to teach Taekwondo and is particularly adept at teaching and motivating children. He is dedicated to helping every student achieve his or her highest level of Taekwondo proficiency.
Mr. Deese was born in 1973 in Mobile, AL. He started his Taekwondo training under Mr. Dennis Conway in the summer of 1986 and earned his black belt in the fall of 1988. Mr. Deese began teaching Taekwondo at Mr. Conway's school, and after graduating high school, taught Taekwondo full-time for Master Rick Hoadley. In May 1996, at the age of 23, Mr. Deese moved to Winston-Salem and opened his own school.
Mr. Deese was a three-time National Sparring Champion as a 4th degree, but now, as a 6th degree, he is not longer allowed to compete. From 1997 to 1999, his tournament free-sparring record was 28-2; reaching the finals 8 out of 9 times and winning the finals 7 out of 8 times.
Mr. Deese is an outstanding technician, tactician, and teacher:
Technician. As a technician, he performs all Taekwondo techniques in a technically nearly perfect manner.
Tactician. As a tactician, he chooses and adapts Taekwondo techniques to fit every type of situation (sparring or self-defense) and every type of opponent.
Teacher. As a teacher, he teaches others to become expert technicians, tacticians, and teachers.
