GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Rank: 1st Degree Decided Black Belt
Age Requirements:
Junior Instructor: 7-17 years of age
Adult Instructor: 18 years of age and up
TRAINEE AND CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
Pre-Testing Requirements
1. Minimum Rank: 1st degree decided Black Belt.
2. Minimum Age:
Trainee: 7 years old
Certified: 18 years old
Testing Requirements
1. Demonstrate every pattern up to and including your own.
2. Demonstrate white and yellow belt one-steps.
3. Demonstrate orange belt sparring combinations.
4. Three-chance rule is in effect.
5. Testing is held at a local testing.
6. $75 testing fee.
JUNIOR AND SENIOR CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
Pre-Qualification Testing Requirements
1. Minimum Age:
Junior Certified- 12 years old
Senior Certified- 18 years old
2. Enrolled in Trainee/Certified program for a minimum of 12 months.
3. Teach a minimum of 2 classes per week
4. Instruct or assist a minimum of 150 classes.
5. Certified Instructors much teach both adult and junior classes. Instructor Trainees instructors should teach only children’s classes unless otherwise directed by the Chief Instructor.
6. CPR and First Aid Certified.
7. Attend all local testings and awards ceremonies.
8. Attend all regional tournaments unless excused by the Chief Instructor.
9. Attend at least one National Tournament per year.
10. Attend at least one Regional Tournament per year.
11. Attend one Black Belt Camp prior to Certification Seminar.
Qualification Testing
1. Complete and send to the National Office a pre-qualification testing application one week prior to testing.
2. Testing may be completed at local testing.
3. Must be a minimum of three Senior Certified Instructor judges present with a majority vote to qualify.
4. Demonstrate every pattern up to and including your own.
5. Demonstrate white and yellow belt one-steps.
6. Demonstrate orange belt sparring combinations.
7. Three-chance rule is in effect.
8. Successfully answer three oral questions from a list provided to school owners.
9. Complete a written test with questions obtained from information in Black Belt Manual. A minimum score of 90% for adults and 80% for juniors is required.
10. Testing results (physical, oral, and written) will be mailed to the National Office along with regular testing results.
11. $75.00 testing fee.
Instructor Certification Seminar
1. Instructor certification candidates must complete an Instruction Certification Seminar before certification. Certified instructors must recertify by completing an Instruction Certification Seminar every three years.
2. Seminar cover 10-hours in instruction spread over 2 days.
3. Seminars will be conducted three times a year in different regions.
4. Seminar fee:
$99.00 for Trainee Instructor
$149.00 for Certified Instructor
5. Certification certificates will be issued by National Office after completion of a Certification Seminar.
UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Collar Stripes
Trainee: 1" red stripe around collar edging, 1/4" from edge of collar.
Junior Certified: 1/2" red stripe around collar edging, 1/4" from edge of collar, with 1/2" black strip abutting it.
Certified: 1" black stripe around collar edging, 1/4" from edge of collar.
Senior Certified: 1 1/2" black stripe around collar edging, 1/4" from edge of collar.
Patches
Trainee: "Trainee Instructor" patch on left front of jacket, centered 1/2" under "TA" patch.
Junior Certified: "Junior Certified Instructor" patch on left front of jacket, centered 1/2" under "TA" patch.
Certified: "Certified Instructor" patch on left front of jacket, centered 1/2" under "TA" patch.
Senior Certified: "Senior Certified Instructor" patch on left front of jacket, centered 1/2" under "TA" patch.
RETAINING JUNIOR AND SENIOR CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION
1. Maintain CPR and First Aid certification.
2. Attend re-certification seminar once every three years.
3. Junior Certified Instructors must attend a Senior Certified Seminar when they reach 18 years of age.
4. Attend one regional tournament every year.
5. Attend one regional testing every two years.
6. Attend all local testings unless excused by Chief Instructor.
7. Teach a minimum of two classes per week.
8. Send letter to regional head for excused absences from events.
